Dentist's Portable Instrument Case #1302
This box opens to reveal a cabinet for storage of dental tools and equipment. The outer case is smooth-grained hardwood while the drawers have highly figured mulberry burl fronts. The drawers fit well and move easily; there are signs of its age is in the paper compartment on the inside of the lid. That's warped and has some wear and discoloration. There's also a stable split near one corner of the lid. (Shown in photos) The box dates from late Meiji to early Taisho period.
